Glad you’re visiting! This is my humble attempt to bring up issues related to Servanthood – particularly regarding our workplaces. I also enjoy venting (woops…I mean sharing) thoughts on the idiocy of of what we often call “managing people.” I’m passionate about this subject. I try hard to stick to leadership/customer service issues, but our government is so funny & ineffective that it’s just too hard not to ignore.
I welcome your feedback. You can subscribe to this blog (see “Posts” at top right) – so all posts are e-mailed to you. I can be reached at: waynelink1@gmail.com – I live in California (once a great state), but I pray you won’t hold that against me. Take Care! Wayne

California is still a great state man, although we are broke, even bankrupt. Still, I’m sure Arnold has a plan.
Bob – I was kidding about California – sort of. You’re right on: it’s still a great state, but we’re almost bankrupt – and I’m not sure Arnold has a plan. It seems like at some point, not too far in the future, enough taxpayers here are gonna put their foot down and refuse give up ever-increasing amounts of their hard-earned money. Thanks for the input!
California will always be a great state as we remember it was, but unfortunately between the money, the education and our manufacturing and even at times customer service being driven out by taxes and general expenses it won’t ever be the same as it once was during the days of the .com booms. I hate to say it but I totally agree with your statements Wayne. I’m not sure Arnold has a shot at pulling us out and it remains to be seen if CA as a whole has the stamina to get back on top. As a younger generation I sometimes wonder if the people in politics are too stuck in their ways as the print industry to evolve and recognize its downfalls so they can create forward movement. Are new technologies the answer to our job crisis or are they going to be our pitfalls?
Hey Rhiannon! I still miss you down here in SLO. I think California’s answer involves a massive overhaul of our state govt – starting with the replacement of many of elected reps. In that respect, it’s much like the federal gov’t. Companies are still leaving CA on a daily basis (to Nevada & elsewhere) where there are lower taxes & less regulation. It’s so, so hard to do business in CA – and unfortunately our state govt. seems to like making it that way. Until we overhaul our state govt., I don’t see things changing much. Call me if you ever get down to SLO area!
I spent some time here this morning after seeing your intro on Linked San Francisco Bay Area.I’ve been writing for consistently for a few months, trying to find the “thing” I really want to pour into with my efforts and so far it’s been pretty scattered. I really like the concept of writing consistently about servant leadership. I grew up as an SOB (Son Of Boss) and helped my Dad lead and grow our family print firm in Chicago for about 15 years. We had to shut the doors in 2010 for typical (bank) reasons and let 160 remarkable people go. I’ve been thinking about starting a blog dedicated to SOB’s. It’s a massive yet under recognized fraternity in this country and if we can help the SOB’s understand what it looks like to lead well, I believe it could have a positive impact on society. We have enough hurdles to manage with govt being as large and imposing as it is, so we certainly could do without the thousands of companies closing each year as a result of the resident SOB setting fire to the legacy of their fathers and grandfathers via poor leadership. I’d love to chat with you one of these days, you strike me as someone I would enjoy knowing!
Take Good Care,
John Pack
